Welcome to Sow Revolution. By creating an account or using this website you agree to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the site.

1. Purpose of the Site
   Sow Revolution is a community platform for seed swapping. Members can list seeds they have available, discover seeds from other members, arrange swaps, and communicate through real-time chat. The platform also offers optional Plus membership plans.

2. Eligibility
   You must be 18 or over to create an account or use Sow Revolution. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We may close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18.

3. User Accounts
   To use the platform you must register for an account by providing your name, username, email address, and a password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account or allow others to access it. You must provide accurate and truthful information when registering.

4. Seed Listings & Swaps
   Members may list seeds they wish to swap and arrange swaps with other members. All seed listings must be accurate and honest. Sow Revolution facilitates connections between members but is not a party to, and does not guarantee the completion of, any swap agreement. We do not guarantee the quality, viability, germination rate, species accuracy, or safety of any seeds listed or exchanged on the platform. Members are solely responsible for ensuring any seeds they send or receive comply with applicable laws and regulations.

5. Seed Gifts & Packets Gifted
   Members may offer seeds as a Seed Gift to another member without receiving anything in return, and receiving a gift is free. We count the packets each member has gifted, and may show that count on profiles and use it to order lists of members. The count has no monetary value. It cannot be bought, sold, transferred between members, or exchanged for cash, goods, or services, and it is not a currency, voucher, or form of payment. We may change how packets gifted are counted, adjust a member's count, or reset it at any time. The terms that apply to swaps, including dispatch and delivery, also apply to Seed Gifts.

6. Dispatch, Delivery & Non-Receipt
   Seeds are sent directly between members by mail or carrier that they arrange and pay for themselves. Sow Revolution does not dispatch, handle, insure, or take custody of any seeds at any point, and is not a carrier or delivery service. Any tracking codes, carrier names, or dispatch confirmations shown on the platform are self-reported by members and are not verified by Sow Revolution. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sow Revolution accepts no responsibility and will not be liable for seeds that are lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, or never received, or for any dispute between members about whether a swap was completed. Any such issues are solely between the members involved.

7. Biosecurity, Plant Health & Legal Compliance
   Seeds and plant material can carry pests, diseases, or weeds, and their movement — including within the UK and especially across international borders — may be restricted or prohibited by plant health, biosecurity, customs, or import/export law. Members are solely responsible for checking and complying with all such laws before sending or accepting seeds, and for any consequences of failing to do so. Sow Revolution accepts no liability for any loss, damage, fine, seizure, or other consequence arising from a member sending, receiving, or handling seeds that do not comply with applicable law, or from any pest, disease, or contamination associated with seeds exchanged through the platform.

   In the United States, seed movement can also be restricted between states. Some states, such as Hawaii and California, restrict or inspect incoming seeds, so check with your state department of agriculture before sending or accepting seeds. Members must not swap seeds of patented or Plant Variety Protection (PVP) protected varieties, or of federally listed noxious weeds.

8. Plus Membership
   Sow Revolution offers optional Plus membership plans with additional features. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Subscription terms, pricing, and cancellation details are provided at the point of purchase. You may manage your subscription through the billing portal at any time.

9. Cancellation & Refunds
   You may cancel your Plus membership at any time from the billing portal. If you cancel, your membership will not renew and you will keep your Plus benefits until the end of the month or year you have already paid for. Cancelling does not trigger an automatic refund.

   If you are a consumer, you may cancel your Plus purchase within 14 days of buying it and receive a full refund. To do so, contact us at hello@sowrevolution.com within that period. We will refund you to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving your request.

   If your Plus membership begins with a free period, for example from a referral reward, the 14 day period starts from the date of your first payment rather than the date you signed up.

   After the 14 day period, payments are not refunded automatically. If you would like to end your membership immediately, contact us and we can offer a pro-rata refund for the unused part of the period you have paid for.

10. Referral Program
    Members can invite friends to Sow Revolution using their personal referral link or code. Referral rewards only apply to new accounts that use a valid referral link or code when they register.

    When a new member who joined with your referral lists their first seed, you and the new member each receive one free month of Plus. If you already have an active Plus subscription, your next renewal date is moved back by one month instead. Lifetime and community members do not receive a referral reward, but the members they invite still do.

    Each member can earn a maximum of 12 free months of Plus through referrals. Referral rewards have no cash value and cannot be transferred, exchanged, or refunded.

    If you subscribe to Plus while you still have more than 2 days of free Plus from a referral remaining, your first payment is taken when your free Plus ends.

    We may refuse, withdraw, or reverse referral rewards where we reasonably believe the program has been misused, for example through fake, duplicate, or self-referred accounts, and may suspend any accounts involved. We may change or end the referral program at any time. Changes will not affect rewards already granted, except where they were obtained through misuse.

11. User Conduct
    You agree not to post unlawful, harmful, defamatory, misleading, or infringing content. You must not use the platform to harass, abuse, or threaten other members. Sow Revolution reserves the right to remove any content or suspend any account that breaches these Terms.

12. Inactive Listings
    To keep swaps flowing, seeds listed by members who haven't visited Sow Revolution for 60 days are hidden from other members browsing for seeds. We'll email you 14 days before this happens. Hidden seeds are not deleted, and they are listed again as soon as you log back in.

13. Dispatch Deadlines & Account Holds
    When you agree a swap or Seed Gift by mail, please mail your seeds and mark them as dispatched promptly. If they are not marked as dispatched within 14 days of the swap being agreed, your account is put on hold: you can't swipe, match, or give or receive Seed Gifts, and your seeds are hidden from other members. You can still complete your agreed swaps, and the hold lifts as soon as your seeds are marked as dispatched. We may also put an account on hold while we look into a problem with a swap, and we will contact you when we do.

14. Feedback & Ratings
    Members may leave feedback and ratings for swap partners. Feedback must be honest and fair. Sow Revolution reserves the right to remove feedback that is abusive, fraudulent, or otherwise breaches these Terms.

15. Content Ownership
    All content on this website (including text, logos, graphics, and designs) is owned by Sow Revolution unless otherwise stated. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse content from this site without prior written permission. By uploading content (such as seed photos or descriptions), you grant Sow Revolution a non-exclusive license to display that content on the platform.

16. Email Subscriptions
    By creating an account you agree to receive service emails needed to run the platform. These include swap notifications, reminders to dispatch or confirm receipt of seeds, account reminders, notices about inactive listings, email verification and password resets. Some of these, such as swap reminders, can't be turned off because swaps depend on them. You can choose how and when you receive other notifications, and opt in to newsletters and digest emails, from your notification settings at any time.

17. Third-Party Services
    We use third-party services to operate parts of the site, including Stripe for payment processing, Lettr for mailing list management and transactional emails, Pusher for real-time chat delivery, and Algolia for search. Plus members may optionally enable Google Cloud Vision to read text from seed packet photos. With your consent, we also use Google Analytics and Hotjar for site analytics, and Meta (Facebook) Pixel for advertising — see our Privacy Policy for details and how to manage your preferences. Your use of these services is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

18. Account Termination
    You may delete your account at any time. Sow Revolution reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

19. Disclaimer & Liability
    The website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Sow Revolution makes no guarantees about the availability, accuracy, reliability, or security of the site, or that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Sow Revolution is not a party to, and is not liable for, any swap, transaction, or communication between members, including any loss or damage arising from seeds that are lost, delayed, damaged, mismatched, non-viable, or never received. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sow Revolution excludes all liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, and for any loss of profit, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, Sow Revolution's total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the site will not exceed the greater of £50 (or the equivalent in your local currency) or the total amount you paid us for Plus membership in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

20. Indemnity
    You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sow Revolution, its owners, employees, and agents from and against any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your use of the platform, your breach of these Terms, your seed listings or swaps, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

21. Severability & Entire Agreement
    If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Sow Revolution regarding your use of the site and supersede any prior agreements.

22. Changes to These Terms
    We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

23. Governing Law
    These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
